Congratulations to Madison Culpepper of Gonzales for exhibiting the 2016 TJLA Show heifer of the year LFL Belinda, and to Barrett Howe from Cahoma, TX for exhibiting the reserve TJLA show heifer of the year PBRS Black Lace. Each were presented custom made trophy buckles by Tittor Buckles and Spurs prior to the 2017 Lone Star Shoot Out. Making the presentation was Randa Taylor TJLA President and Ralph Hawkins TLA Executive Secretary.
The 2017 show heifer point year is now under way good luck to all exhibitors.
Exhibitors must be members of the Texas Junior Limousin Association
Point Scale 20 points for grand champion, 15 points for reserve grand champion a descending scale for the top 5 places in class beginning with ten points for 1st, nine for 2nd eight for 3rd, seven for 4th and six for 5th. Points are calculated on each animal an exhibitor with more than one animal cannot combine points.
Points will be considered beginning with the Lone Star Shoot Out, Ft Worth Junior Show, San Antonio Junior Show, San Angelo Junior Show, Houston Junior Show, Star of Texas @ Austin, TJLA Field Day, NALJA heifer show, West Texas Fair, East Texas Junior Show, South Plains Fair, Tri State Fair, State Fair of Texas, and Heart of Texas. Shows must have a Limousin breed show for points to count. In the event of a tie points from Field Day will be used as tie breaker, if still a tie then Junior Nationals will be tie breaker.
Points from only five of the afore mentioned shows will be used to determine winners, the following placings are based on the top 5 shows. EXHIBITORS SHOULD CHECK THE POINT TOTALS ON THE TLA WEBSITE AND ADVISE THE TLA OFFICE OF ANY DESCREPANCIES

CHAMPIONS AT TJLA FIELD DAY
The TJLA bred-and-owned female and bull shows and showmanship competition was Saturday, May 23 at the Mallet Event Center in Levelland. Kody Lucherk of Lubbock, TX, evaluated the entries.
Champion Bred-and-Owned Female Troy Holdman of Sundown exhibited the champion bred-and-owned female with HCC Banana Split, a 7/22/14 daughter of XXX.
Reserve Champion Bred-and-Owned Female Jacob Keeton of Wolforth exhibited the reserve champion bred-and-owned female with LLKT Miss Bright Light, a 12/7/14 daughter of KRVN Naskar.
Champion Bred-and-Owned Bull Lauren Stowers of Bridgeport exhibited the champion bred-and-owned bull with LSTO Built Tough, a 3/1/14 son of EBFL Ypsilanti.
Reserve Champion Bred-and-Owned Bull Nikki Keeton of Wolforth exhibited the reserve champion bred-and-owned bull with LLKT Blue Chip, a 9/4/14 son of Schilling’s Talladega.

MAJOR JUNIOR STOCK SHOW INFORMATION
The stock show season is upon us. The following are dates to be aware of for each show. It is highly recommended that you familiarize yourself with all of the rules for each show to avoid any problems. Fort Worth Stock Show arrival - January 22; check of original registration certificate - January 23; show - January 25 following Red Angus San Antonio Livestock Show- Heifers may begin arriving at 5 pm February 16 BUT WILL NOT BEGIN MOVE IN UNTIL 5 am FEBRUARY 17. Limousin heifers may arrive and check in February 17 or 18 as printed in San Antonio premium book. Show and release February 20. San Angelo Stock Show arrival of junior Limousin heifers February 20 and 21, paper check February 21, show February 22. Houston Livestock Show arrival of junior breeding beef and scramble heifers - March 12. Must be checked in by 5 pm. Show - March 14 Star of Texas Austin breeding heifers arrive - March 26, show - March 27
The Texas Junior Limousin Association will hold a meeting Saturday January 24, 2015 at 11 am in Barn 1 at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Topics discussed will include future activities at San Antonio and Houston as well as fund raising efforts for the Field Day in Levelland.
Membership dues to the Texas Junior Limousin Association are $20 annually and help fund junior activities. Renewal letters will be going out in the near future be sure to complete the form and note your current email address as well as postal address so as to receive important information on shows, scholarships, etc.
The 2015 Texas Junior Limousin Field Day and heifer show will be held May 23-24 at the Mallet Event Center in Levelland, Texas. Watch for details in future issues. A great group of exhibitors represented Texas during the opening ceremonies of the Red Dirt Country National Junior Limousin Show & Congress on Monday night.
Texas was named the State Sweepstakes Champion at the awards
banquet on Friday evening. Individual Sweepstakes winners were
Lauren Stowers (7th) and Blane Counsil (10th).
