TJLA MEMBERS SCORE BIG AT 'BRINGING IT TOGETHER'
The Texas Junior members that went to the Junior Nationals in Amarillo July 9-16 had a great week! There were 43 Texas youngsters attending. A good time was had by all. The highlight of the week was the Texas Cook- Off Team. Suzanne Taylor organized "Fiesta Beef," a skit that included a senora, two handsome vaqueros, a condescending cowgirl, dancing senoritas and a mariachi band. The ages in this skit ranged from 1 to 21. It was great to see all of them working together. The Fiesta Beef recipe was supplied by Susan Carmichael. This group had a great time and garnished a second place Cook-Off Team from the judges and won the Peoples' Choice Award.
Other highlights were:
Blair Davis – Champion State Poster, Reserve Grand Champion Bred and Owned Female, First Place Photo Intermediate Division
Britan, Katelyn, and Destin Counsil were members of the Champion Junior Quiz Bowl Team Remy Carmichael, Call Carmichael and Lauren Stowers – Champion Team Fitting

TLA Awards $2,000 in Scholarships
The Texas Limousin Association presented
four $500 scholarships at the Texas Junior
Limousin awards banquet held Saturday night,
June 5 at the Bryan County Expo Center. The
E.J. Bishop and Gene Rogers Memorial
Scholarships were founded many years ago by
the families of the former TLA presidents
whose dedication and service to the TLA and
the TJLA contributed to the success of the
associations. In later years, Marcy & Rusty
Perrin began donating scholarships in the
memory of Matt Ertl, a former TJLA member.
This year, the Texas Junior Limousin
Association awarded an additional
scholarship that was made possible by the
success of this years Texas Limousin Field
Day.
