Introducing New Generation Limousin
Since entering the United States in the late sixties the
Limousin breed has evolved into what we believe to be
the complete beef animal. In the early days it was known
as the continental breed that combined low birth weights
with explosive growth and muscle, adding hybrid vigor to
cowherds of various breed compositions. As with any new
product there were traits that needed improvement.
Limousin breeders in co-operation with the North
American Limousin Foundation held breed symposiums to
identify and address these traits. Once identified, EPDs
were established and targeted to allow greater selection
pressure to improve docility, milking ability and
reproductive efficiency while maintaining the muscle,
growth and feeding efficiency that have made the breed
popular. If you have not looked at Limousin lately, we
invite you to consider the new generation of Limousin,
and Lim-Flex hybrids — you’ll be glad you did.
